My daughter, Kelly and I had the pleasure of meeting you recently at IDRS as we began the process of purchasing [her] instrument. Over the course of the past several months, I've called a few times to get information on used instruments. I have always received frank and honest assessments (both positive and negative) which proved very helpful. We h...

The new bassoon bocal is a big change. It out plays my Heckel bocal by a significant amount, and it also is far better than the bocal used by the guy I play with who has a 1967 vintage Heckel bassoon and bocal. I was surprised that it worked so well on his bassoon. He, too, was quite shocked! It really solves many of my instrument's problems above ...

I just wanted to drop a line to let you know how well-received Sarah was today at the Georgia State University Annual Double Reed Day. Locating a Dealer

All sales of Fox and Renard instruments are made through authorized dealers. The drop down dealer menu on this web site offers a comprehensive list of all Fox dealers. Listings by state or by country can help you locate a dealer near you. You are welcome to make use of whatever authorized dealer can best serve your needs.

For persons in parts of the world that may lack access to authorized Fox dealers please contact us directly. We will assist you in locating a dealer and purchasing an instrument in whatever way possible.

Custom Made Instruments

All of our instruments are individually made. This allows us to offer options appropriate for each model. This is especially true for our Fox Bassoons and Contrabassoons for which custom made instruments are routine.

If you have a need for an option which you do not find listed please contact the factory. Special options can be fabricated for unique needs.

Personal assistance

Our goal as instrument makers is to be accessible and responsive to your needs. Call, write, or email if you have any questions about double reed instruments.

Company History

The concept of what is now Fox Products Corporation began in Hugo Fox's imagination sometime between 1922 and 1949, the years when he was principal bassoonist of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra. He founded his company in South Whitley, Indiana, during the summer of 1949 and the first bassoon was completed in November 1951. During that first production year, 12 instruments were finished and delivered.

The business, which included bassoon reed manufacturing (started by Mr. Fox during the late 1930s) grew slowly at first. Nevertheless, the 1950s saw the addition of oboe reed manufacturing to the product line, and additions to machines and tools and a modest expansion of bassoon manufacturing.
