Renard bassoon and contrabassoon reeds are not graded for strength. 

Unlike other reeds strength grading is not successful or useful for bassoon reeds.  For other instruments beginners start using softer reeds and progress to stronger reeds as their embouchures develop.  Bassoons do not follow that path.  A professional is likely to use a reed much lighter than a student would use.  However, that lighter reed must be finished by the player to suit his instrument.  Bassoon students will be more successful beginning on a stronger reed and proceed to a lighter reed after they develop reed making skills.
