This guard protects the pad cup which closes the G sharp tone hole on bassoons that have a separate tone hole for the thumb G sharp key. This includes all Fox and Renard models except Fox models 601 and 660, and the Renard model 51. The illustration shows both guards near the bottom of the boot joint. The 83 guard is at the bottom of the picture. |
