| This is a scraping style reed knive favored more by bassoonists than by oboists. Scraping knives are ground for use in a single direction. The flat side of a scraping knife is on the leading side while the bevel side of the knife is on the back. The left hand knife is held in the left hand while scraping away from your body. |
