Fox Model III Bassoon

Symphony Bore (Long), Polypropylene Body

The Fox Model III was introduced in 1970 and acoustically, was patterned after the Fox Model II. Built from polypropylene with silver plated metal bands, it is the most cosmetically pleasing plastic body bassoon manufactured by Fox. With the option for additional, professional key work, the Model III is appealing to military bands, university music programs and individuals seeking a durable second instrument.

Polypropylene, long bore, hand finished, with silver plated reinforcing bands resembling the wooden instruments. Body lock.

Nickel silver keys with silver plating. Full German system with high D key. Right hand whisper key lock. Rollers on F, A(flat), E(flat) and D(flat). Metal tubes extending into the bore in the finger holes of the wing and boot joints to prevent water from entering the tone holes. Spring posts are locked with screws.

All Fox bassoons are designed to be played at A:440 but can be turned higher with a combination of shorter bocals and higher pitched reeds.

Unless otherwise requested, the Model III comes standard with two *CVX* bocals, #2 and #3 lengths, silver plated.
