Notable performances/accomplishments: First non-string recipient of the MPower Artist Grant; featured guest artist at University of Toronto’s inaugural Bassoon-a-palooza; performed recitals featuring music by African-American composers for several concert series; won concerto competition at the International Festival Institute at Round Top; named as one of Top 40 Under 40 by Memphis Business Journal

Commentary by critics: Die Berger described that audiences were “consistently impressed by his beautiful and lyrical playing and the joy in the music was evident.” The writer for Fanfare Magazine notes that “my speakers, and my head, dote on the rich, warm quality of [Washington’s] lower register.”

Teaching Opportunities: Gave masterclasses and served as panelist in discussions about musical entrepreneurship and future of classical music while in Toronto; masterclasses at Universidade de São Paulo, Universidade Federal do Estado do Rio de Janeiro, and Universidade Federal de Pernambuco
