Title: Process / Manufacturing Engineer
Position Type: Regular, Full-Time
Reports to: Plant Manager
Location: South Whitley, IN
Work Eligibility: Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
Hours: 45 hours per week during normal office hours - 7:00 AM - 5:00 PM with overtime as needed

Position Overview

The Manufacturing Engineer’s focus would be to plan and evaluate existing manufacturing processes and workflows at Fox Products to identify areas that could benefit from change & improvements. Document and apply best lean manufacturing and quality practices.

Responsibilities & Duties

  • Process definition, improvement and documentation
  • Prepare component drawings to support manufacturing
  • Implement new product designs & work instructions
  • Make changes & updates to bill of material as needed
  • Support the implementation of engineering changes with respect to process definition methods development & tooling
  • Support production in the development & implementation of prototype components
  • Analyze proposed product specifications to determine feasibility of proposals
  • Update & maintain product documentation
  • Confer with necessary personnel to clarify or resolve production issues
  • Confer & discuss concerns with suppliers
  • Establish and document efficient methods & processes
  • Develop & maintain error-proofing methodologies to improve quality
  • Initiate actions to prevent occurrences of non-conforming product or process
  • Additional duties as deemed necessary by management

Qualifications:

  • BS degree in the Engineering field or equivalent experience
  • Minimum of 3+ years of Manufacturing Engineering or Quality Experience, preferred
  • Ability to train manufacturing personnel on process & quality changes
  • Ability to perform within the principles of Lean Manufacturing 
  • Solid communication skills – both written & verbal
  • Ability to walk, stand & sit for periods of time and move intermittently throughout the workday
  • Good speaking & listening skills
  • Ability to interact with others
  • Ability to work at a PC work station

Required Skills & Competencies

  • Good understanding of engineering principles & practices
  • Knowledge of quality systems & practices desired
  • Must have a working knowledge of Excel, Word, 3D Modeling software, Solidworks or other CAD software
  • Resolve less complex matters on own, exercising judgement & initiative – provide information on complex matters to others for resolution
  • Attention to detail
  • Good analytical & problem solving skills
  • Well-developed organizational skills & ability to meet deadlines
  • Understanding of general machining practices
